AAU SUMMER PROGRAM 2017 INTERNSHIPS

COLLEGE YOUTH LEADERS

The AAU Summer Program is seeking 2 college undergraduate interns who will have the opportunity to work as summer school Director Assistants, design and implement the Community Action Project (CAP), and serves as mentors and role models to high school youth teachers and the summer school students.  Interns will be responsible for helping to plan and teach CAP with the support of high school youth. CAP lessons serve as a chance for students to engage in a hands-on learning opportunity that can connect and positively impact the community.

COLLEGE INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Summer School Director on administrative responsibilities and curriculum implementation
  • Play a mentorship role to high school team members
  • Create a positive school experience for high school team members, children and parents by being prepared, enthusiastic, and caring
  • Develop and co-teach CAP curriculum
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to high school team members as needed
  • Participate as a team member in the school set up, clean up, meal preparation, event planning, and other tasks required for smooth running of the summer school
  • Participate in all staff training
  • Assist in daily service site operations

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • Application Deadline:  April 7, 2017
  • Start Date:  June 26, 2017
  • End Date:  August 11, 2017
